Rachel West
organizes with the US PROStitutes Collective, a multiracial network of women who work or have worked in different areas of the sex industry. Since the 1970s, US PROS has been campaigning for the decriminalization of prostitution, and for justice, protection and resources so that no one is forced into prostitution through poverty. Rachel co-founded the In Defense of Prostitute Women's Safety Project (IDPWS) in San Francisco, which does public advocacy to stop violence against sex workers. IDPWS is currently coordinating the Guaranteed Care Income San Francisco, a pilot for single mothers who are, or have been, at risk of criminalization and/or losing their children to child welfare. This is the first guaranteed income pilot that focuses on recognizing and valuing the work of caregiving.
